The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has requested that six more foreign gambling and affiliate marketing websites be blocked.
The organization has decided that Golden Crown Casino, Sol Casino, PowBet, ExciteWin, Sportaza, and Gamble Online are breaking the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001 by offering services to Australian players. Therefore, the agency has asked that Australian Internet Service Providers (ISPs) block each website.
Since the ACMA first made blocking requests in November 2019, the nation has blocked 447 unlawful gambling websites. Moreover, since the ACMA started enforcing new illegal overseas gambling regulations in 2017, another 160 illegal services (including operators and affiliate businesses) have left the Australian market.
The ACMA stated, “Website blocking offers a valuable opportunity to increase awareness of illegal gambling services through messages that appear when people attempt to access the websites.”
“The ACMA reminds consumers that even if a service appears legitimate, it is unlikely to have crucial customer protections. This means that Australians using illegal gambling services are at risk of losing money.”
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) declared this week that it has initiated civil legal actions against three entities for unlawful online wagering. Subsequent to this announcement, the ACMA issued directives to block access to these services.
All three cases pertain to the provision of prohibited online gambling services through “PPPfish.” The platform was subsequently rebranded as “Shuffle Gaming” and later as “Redraw Poker.”
Rhys Edward Jones is accused of providing these illicit online gambling services to Australians between March 2020 and March 2021, while Diverse Link Pty has been supplying them since March 2021.
The ACMA also identified Brenton Lee Buttigieg, alleging his participation in promoting and referring clients to these services.
