The Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO) has designated Dr. Karin Schnarr as its incoming Chief Executive Officer and Registrar. Dr. Schnarr possesses extensive expertise, having previously held the position of Associate Professor of Strategic Management at Wilfrid Laurier University. At the university, she also instructed on Public Policy and concentrated her research on strategic management within regulated industries. Throughout her tenure at Laurier, she spearheaded both the Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration programs while contributing valuable perspectives to the University’s Board of Governors and Senate.
In addition to her scholarly accomplishments, Dr. Schnarr has held numerous significant roles within the Ontario government, including Chief of Staff. In this capacity, she played a pivotal role in influencing public policy, regulations, and legislation. Her dedication to tackling challenges encountered by women is apparent in her position as Chair of the Ontario Women’s Economic Empowerment Roundtable, where she advocated for increased female representation in STEM fields and entrepreneurship.
Lately, Dr. Schnarr served on the Board of Directors for iGaming Ontario, heading its Corporate Affairs Committee. This background, combined with her profound comprehension of government policy and her enthusiasm for empowering women in business, makes her exceptionally qualified to guide the AGCO. Her term commences on September 18th.
