The Ontario regulator responsible for alcohol and gambling, the AGCO, has named Dr. Karin Schnarr as its incoming Chief Executive Officer and Registrar. Dr. Schnarr possesses extensive experience, having served as an Associate Professor of Business Strategy at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Lazaridis School of Business. Beyond her academic contributions, Dr. Schnarr has held high-level roles within the Ontario government, gaining recognition for her knowledge in public policy and regulatory affairs. Her efforts with the Ontario Women’s Directorate, addressing obstacles encountered by women in professional settings, are particularly commendable. Dr. Schnarr’s appointment commences on September 18th.
The AGCOs Board of Directors expressed great enthusiasm for Dr. Schnarre’s arrival,” a representative stated, acknowledging the contributions of departing CEO and Corporate Secretary, Tom Mungeam, who previously revealed his intention to retire. Dr. Schnarre assumes this critical position as Mr. Mungeam’s guidance will be greatly valued.
This shift occurs during a noteworthy period for AGCO, as they recently encountered a penalty connected to responsible gaming rules in Ontario. The matter, encompassing Apollo Entertainment, underscores the intricate regulatory environment firms such as AGCO are traversing.
