A prominent lottery and gaming solutions company, Scientific Games, has purchased Camelot Lottery Solutions Group.
Located in Chicago, Camelot LS Group is a subsidiary of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board. It oversees the Illinois Lottery through its operating company, Camelot Illinois, under a private management contract.
In addition to its collaboration with the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery to improve its lottery operations, Camelot LS Group also possesses a technology division that supplies products and services to lotteries and their participants throughout Europe and North America.
Scientific Games has indicated that it does not intend to implement any management adjustments at Camelot LS Group following the acquisition.
“Our concentration will remain on assisting our clients, engaging players, and generating lottery revenue to benefit the communities they support,” stated Wayne Pickup, Chief Executive Officer of Camelot LS Group.
“As the private manager of the Illinois Lottery, we collaborate closely with the lottery department to promote responsible and enduring expansion to optimize returns for the state of Illinois. The merger of Scientific Games’ resources, knowledge, and expertise with those of Camelot LS Group will only amplify the outcomes we achieve for Illinois and all of our clientele.”
The Camelot LS Group will transition into a fully owned subsidiary of Allwyn upon the completion of their agreement. This event is projected to occur in the initial months of 2023, contingent upon a seamless process.
“The United States has consistently been perceived as a substantial prospect for Allwyn,” remarked Robert Chvátal, the Chief Executive Officer of Allwyn. “The incorporation of Camelot LS represents a significant stride towards realizing this objective.”
He underscored Allwyn’s dedication to enhancing the lottery experience. “Our aim is to elevate the experience for participants through technological advancements and ingenuity, ensuring optimal efficiency and security. By fostering increased engagement, we can ultimately generate amplified funds for charitable endeavors.” Chvátal further noted that both Allwyn and Camelot share a fervent passion for lotteries and firmly believe in maximizing their beneficial influence on communities.
This announcement follows Allwyn’s successful bid to operate the UK National Lottery in March 2022, succeeding Camelot, which had managed it for 28 years.
